Wawasan Batik (not to be confused with the wawasan technique used at the Kraftangan) had a distinctive style called asam-manis (sweet-sour). Until recently, when they started producing the ultra-bright wawasan-style sarongs for export to the US. Confused yet?
Also notable as the only place I've ever seen a woman working, as a dyer. Batiking with bloks is a man's job although there are plenty of women doing batik tulis (hand-drawn batik) with a canting tool on silk and rayon.
