It took me several trips to track down Julia which I finally found in 2002... and then it closed in 2004. I've been back a couple times to see if it has re-opened because batik this unique should not be forgotten but once again, I can not find the house with the small shed in the back.
I can't confirm that all these sarongs are from Julia. The red one in the top row, and the bottom two are definately and I'm pretty sure that the peach/ochre-colored one is. It is frustrating because the six shown here are among my all-time favorite sarongs. I just wish they'd go back into production...
Update 2008: I met Mr. "Julia" at a stall in the market where I hang out. He confirmed that the [top row] sarongs were his output (as well as the bottom row). The middle row: not. (So I should probably move them but this is such a great group.) Unfortunately, there are no plans to revive Julia.
