Atma Alam is the name of the "art village" created by an oil painter and his batiker wife on the west coast resort island of Langkawi near the border of Thailand . I've never been there; somehow, this sarong ended up in the Central Market in Kuala Terengganu where I bought it in 1999. I like it for its maroon and white '40s-look.
