It is unfortunate that a vast quantity of sarongs have no maker's stamp. Whether it is due to vendor request, design limitations, indifference, or simply forgetfullness, labelling sarongs with the batiker's name is not a high priority
As I said before, approximately 20% of my collection can't be identified. It would be a higher percentage except that I buy many pieces at the factories where they are produced.
Sometimes the fault is my own. I have a dozen sarongs for which I have absolutely no information. Either they were bought in the early 90s before I started keeping records or they were bought in 1999 when I lost my notebook in the KL airport.
