mustaffa batik

This is the basic pattern for a sarong which is roughly 2 yds long (178 cm) by 44" wide (112 cm).

This type of sarong is worn by women only. A man's sarong is a length of cloth in a tattersall plaid pattern usually imported from India.

I'm told that if one is wearing a kebaya (short blouse), the sarong is tied so that the kepala falls in front. If wearing the longer baju kurung, the sarong is tied so that the kepala falls in back.
